Drawing on my background as a food historian, I founded La Gondola Bakery to bring the culinary traditions of the Venice area to Indiana. I oversee product development, operations, branding, and market outreach—an entrepreneurial practice grounded in both scholarship and craft. Building community through authentic food.
Your artisan bakery, just a gondola away.
La Gondola Bakery is where my work as a food historian meets the craft traditions of my Italian home. Having taught the history of gastronomy at Big Ten and Ivy League institutions, I bring a deep understanding of culinary heritage to every loaf I make. From naturally leavened breads to regional specialties, each bake is slow-fermented, hand-shaped, and grounded in centuries-old techniques from the Veneto—reimagined through the warm spirit of the Midwest. Est. 2025.
I bake weekly for Farmers Markets, regional fairs, and Airbnb clients, bringing forward breads grounded in story, culture, and heritage.
As a certified lifeguard, I serve in a public safety role that requires calm leadership, rigorous emergency-response training, and coordinated teamwork in high-stakes environments. I maintain vigilance, communicate clearly, and contribute to a safe aquatic community.
I'm a certified swim instructor in the US and Italy, and I have taught learners of all ages and abilities, adapting lessons to individual needs and supporting confidence, safety, and skill development. This work reflects my commitment to community-centered instruction and accessible, human-focused teaching.
